Our Story

Leah Ramos & David Gamboa

Co-founders of Brooklyn Basement Dance Company, Leah and David have been best friends for 14 years — bonded by a shared love of movement, performance, and the competitive drive to build something lasting.

With Leah’s sharp business mind and David’s world-class dance experience, they’ve created a studio that’s equal parts grit, talent, and heart. Their chemistry, trust, and relentless work ethic are the foundation of Brooklyn Basement — a space built to raise the standard and move with purpose.

Meet The Team

David Gamboa

Co-Founder & CCO

David Gamboa is a Southern California native who proudly calls New York City home—19 years and counting. A dynamic performer with a career spanning stage, screen, and studio, David is no stranger to the spotlight. His credits range from major motion pictures and national commercials to the MTV Video Music Awards and acclaimed musical theatre productions.

David’s passion for performance has taken him across the United States and internationally, both as a dancer and choreographer. Over the past several years, he has become a prominent force in the competitive dance world, earning countless top awards for overall performance, choreography, and musical interpretation. Recognized especially for his excellence in Hip Hop, David has received numerous entertainment and choreography accolades at regional and national competitions.

As a teacher and creative visionary, David is deeply committed to artistic growth—for himself and his students. His relentless dedication to training, innovation, and mentorship continues to inspire the next generation of dancers to reach new heights.

Leah Ramos

Co-Founder & CEO

Leah Ramos is a visionary entrepreneur whose foundation in competitive cheerleading laid the groundwork for her success in business. A former high-level cheerleader, Leah developed critical skills in discipline, time management, and collaborative leadership early on—skills that would later fuel her rise as a business leader. The intense, high-stakes world of competitive cheer instilled in her a relentless drive, a deep respect for teamwork, and the ability to perform under pressure—qualities that continue to define her leadership style today.

Leah has since translated that competitive edge into building and leading successful ventures with strategic precision and a bold creative vision. Her work reflects a balance of operational excellence and innovative thinking, grounded in a commitment to empowering others and achieving excellence at every level. With every new challenge, Leah draws on her cheerleading roots: leading with energy, lifting others up, and always pushing for the win.
